What do Versatility, Impact, Flash Mob & Technology all have in common? They are all in our latest newsletter.

IT’S ALL ABOUT VERSATILITY

When we ask our clients what they need most from their entertainment they consistently mention versatility, a word that describes our popular new act SING!

This talented group of singer/dancers has been busy this spring and every date has been different. One producer needed 25 minutes of walk-in music to start a business meeting. SING! rocked the house. Another client was looking for a unique after-dinner show for a Super Bowl event in Dallas, SING! delivered! Yet another client was looking for a 15 minute show that culminated with SING! backing up Lee Greenwood in front of 3,000 association members. And, most impressively, SING! wowed 500 hotel general managers with a 40 minute “Glee” style customized musical. What’s next? You tell us!

And while we’re being versatile –

POWER . IGNITE . IMPACT

What do these words have in common? They’ve each been the theme literally drummed into the attendees at events all over the country during the past 3 months by LIGHT FORCE, a new concept from corporate favorite Rhythm Extreme. This innovative visual performance includes lighted drumsticks, flashing LED panels, and culminates in a reveal of a key message, product name, or even your next event destination.

SING! and LIGHT FORCE – You provide the message and we’ll provide exciting, creative (and yes versatile) ways to communicate it at your next event.

WHERE IDEAS COME FROM – Are Flash Mobs Still “IT?” It’s interesting to study the timeline of a special event idea. Over the last 2 months we have produced nearly a dozen “Flash Mobs” for corporate business meetings. These flash mobs have been done with dancers, with singers, with rock songs and with funk songs. What’s interesting is that Flash Mobs were all the rage on YouTube over 2 years ago (the Michael Jackson flash mob, the Journey flash mob, the Opera flash mob), and even the Black Eyed Peas performance on Oprah that featured the entire crowd bursting into choreographed motion is over a year old.

Is the reason for the delay the economy or does it take that long for event planners to get comfortable enough with a new concept to sell it? Perhaps both are true. Either way, Flash Mobs are the “hot new idea” so let us provide our expertise to assemble your next entertainment extravaganza!

ASK THE TSP PROFESSIONAL Paul Creighton, CSEP
What do you do when you need to cover a large amount of space with music and you want all areas of the event to have something visual to enjoy in addition to the music?

We have been faced with this challenge in several locales over the past few years including –

  1. the lawn of the Fairmont Kea Lani in Maui with 700 people seated for dinner,
  2. poolside at the Ritz Carlton Cancun with 300 people enjoying cocktails,
  3. in the porte cochere at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, – or most recently,
  4. a tri-level yacht cruising the waters off Key Biscayne.

In each case, success was achieved with talented musicians utilizing wireless in-ear monitors. In the first three occasions we used three pianists seated at baby grand pianos, each on its own riser, spread across the area. Using the in-ear monitors allowed all three to be playing the exact same song with no delay. The clients loved it. It was like a piano concert but the guests could still mingle and have conversation.

The fourth opportunity was even more inventive. A different musician was placed on each level (guitar, sax, and keyboards). Each musician had their own mini-sound system but they were playing to the same musical backing track. No matter where the client went, the music was the same, except with a different soloist in each location. This eliminated any issues with music clashing from floor to floor and created a smooth sound traversing the entire boat.

By combining live musicians with a little technology we were able to create a richer entertainment experience for all of the event guests no matter how large or complicated the space. Stay tuned to see how we handle the next challenge!
